Marukhathaiyawan Palace
This beachside palace was formerly used as a royal summer residence by King Rama VI during the 1920s. The palace was designed by an Italian architect and built of golden teak.
Advised by his doctor to rest and restore his health in a cool dry place. His Majesty King Vajiravudh, Rama VI, chose to spend his summer at the seaside in Phetchaburi. However, he become dissatisfied with the Royal Residence at Chao Samran Beach because of unhealthy conditions. His Majesty therefore decided in 1923 to build a summer palace near the beach in Huai Sai Nua, Cha-am District, using materials from the dismantled buildings of the former residence. The new site was drier and cooler, with lush natural forest and fresh water. Few people lived nearby, through a train station was not far away.
Hua-Hin Night Market
Definitely to be counted as Hua Hins most colorful nightly attraction. Every evening throngs of both Thai and overseas visitors will come to stroll around and take their pick from the many food stalls offering all kinds of freshly-prepared goodies. These includes Thai dishes, fresh seafood, Thai desserts and Indian roti bread. Besides the culinary delights, many other stalls offer visitors a host of memorable souvenirs.
The Wat Huay Mongkol
The Wat Huay Mongkol or the Huay Mongkol Temple is home to an extremely large statue of Luang Phor Tuad. This is why all roads lead to this temple every weekend, as countless of Thai Buddhist pilgrims make the trip to the Temple in order to show respect.
However, it’s not just the pilgrims that make the trip. A lot of tourists consider the Temple as a tourist attraction. With its close proximity to Hua Hin, checking out this attraction is a must especially since it’s just 10 kilometers away from Hua Hin.
But remember, this is still a holy place that was once the home of the Southern Thai monk – a monk that was made famous by the miracles that he performed. With these miracles, it’s not hard to see why locals and tourists perform routines around it for good luck. After taking pictures, a lot of tourists also go on an elephant ride around the area so you may want to check it out. |
